Description
‘Shibori’ – tie, bind or stitch resists into your 50cm x 50cm renewable natural cotton cushion cover, then immerse in the indigo vat and watch the magic unfold! Take home a beautiful piece to adorn your bed or favourite chair.
Visual Artist and Designer, Kate Fitton, will share her passion for resist binding plus indigo dyeing and guide you through the process. All products and materials will be prepared ready for you to relax in the company of a small group and explore your creativity.
This 3 hour workshop is suitable for enthusiastic creatives to freely explore the timeless expression of this ancient art, and also for newbie creatives who might need more guidance and assistance. No experience is necessary. Shibori can be as simple as snapping on a few rubber bands to intricate stitched designs. Additional natural cushion covers will be available to purchase ($10 each, cash only) for speedy creators who want the opportunity to create a pair.
This workshop is to be held at the Fleurieu Arthouse in McLaren Vale in conjunction with, ‘It’s Quiet Here’, a group exhibiton where you can see Kate’s shibori work on display from 21 October to the 25 November in the gallery.
